Ministry
Gail is from St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Lisbon, Maine in the Diocese of Maine. She has been a missionary with SAMS since April of 1996, initially serving in Honduras. Since 2001, she has been ministering in the metro area of Madrid, Spain. She is leading women's ministry in Madrid including Bible study, outreach, and leadership development. In addition, she is helping with the outreach to the Latin American immigrant community.
Call
Gail grew up in a Christian home and has childhood memories of her mother praying with her. By the age of 10, she personally accepted Christ and grew through the guidance and fellowship of her local church. Even as a child, she felt that she would someday work in full-time service to God. As an adult, she rededicated her life to Christ. She continued to grow in her faith and eventually felt led to missionary service through circumstances and serious discussion with her priest. After 10 years of teaching elementary school and 10 years of working as a CNA (certified nursing assistant), Gail applied to SAMS to become a missionary.
Prayer Challenge
Gail's primary prayer concern is that she is sensitive to God's will and direction for her work in Spain. In addition, she is adjusting to a culture which is completely different from her last placement in Honduras. Though she is familiar with Spanish, she is learning new terminology and various nuances to the language in Spain. She also faces the challenge of continuing to raise funds for her ministry.
