Birthday: 8/23
Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Ministry
Malcolm directs a pastoral, teaching, and social ministry at the Missionary Center he founded in the community of la Colonia Cruz Roja (Red Cross Community) just outside the city limits of Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. This community is a settlement of victims of Hurricane Mitch (1998) established by the combined Red Crosses of the USA, Spain and Honduras. For many years, through donations for hurricane relief, Malcolm was able to address spiritual, medical, housing, and educational needs of many families who had lost their homes and all their belongings in the storm. In a facility constructed in 2002 - 2004, he continues to minister through Biblical teaching and day-to-day social and spiritual interaction with children and adults of the community.

Malcolm’s ministry began as an outreach of Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) Episcopal Church in Tegucigalpa, which he helped plant as a member of a team sent to Honduras by SAMS in 1992.

Call
Malcolm grew up in a Christian home but says that the Lord drew him into a deeper relationship over many years. The Lord especially became a priority in his life 15-20 years ago when he was considering retiring as Area Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania. While looking for his next job, he eventually spoke with the director of SAMS and was asked if he had ever considered missionary work. He responded with a quick "no" but found himself calling for an application at the Lord's prompting less than three months later! Malcolm is from the Diocese of Pittsburgh and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Sewickley, PA. He started his service as a missionary in 1991.

Malcolm is working to learn the subtleties of the subculture of the Honduran poor so that he can better understand, sympathize with, and serve the people in the refugee community. He is seeking to continually present the Gospel in a way that is interesting and relevant to them. Also, he is facing a new challenge as he works to raise funds for a facility he built and a program he provides that are beyond the scope and capacity of his personal missionary budget to fund. Please pray for Malcolm to have wisdom and spiritual covering as he directs this ministry.
