Ministry
Rene works with local leaders as well as short-term teams to build up the communities where she ministers socially, medically, physically and spiritually. Her ministry includes helping communities to receive a clean water supply as well as starting Bible studies and helping short-term teams from the U.S. conduct Vacation Bible Schools or medical brigades.

Call
Rene became a Christian as an adult after she went to church with "the only Christian (she) knew at the time". At that church, she "experienced the love of the living Lord in a tangible, palpable way" and has been growing in her faith ever since. After several short-term mission trips in the mid-1990's, Rene sensed God calling her to the mission field on a more permanent basis. Rene is sent by St. Mark’s on the Mesa Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the Diocese of the Rio Grande. She began missionary service in 1999.

Prayer Challenge
Some of Rene's primary challenges involve adjusting to the Honduran culture and the Spanish language. She deals with the daily challenge of discerning how to help the recipients of her ministry in the face of the many and extreme needs.
