Ministry
Shirley Morris works full time in the Bunyoro-Kitara region in Hoima, Uganda, East Africa. There 5 main areas where she ministers.

Bible Study Program:
This is a program Shirley started in order to teach and train leaders to begin small group bible studies in their own rural villages. This was to fulfill a vision God had given to her to bring the Gospel to women who were so busy surviving they had no time to seek Him. The ministry has grown so much that a Ugandan ordained woman, The Rev. Karen Sabiiti, is now coordinating it full time as a diocesan staff member as Shirley mentors her.

Chaplaincy: Three days a week Shirley is chaplain of a Christian Girls High School, leading them in worship, praise, prayer and bible study.

Mentoring: Shirley's home has become a gathering place for young volunteers from the west and high schoolers who are exploring their faith and looking to go deeper into the Word.

Scholarship program: A computer scholarship is awarded every quarter to four young women who show promise, have good grades, and ability to use her new skills in acquiring a job or being promoted in her present job. Just about every student graduated now has a job. The last one received an offer less than one month after graduating.

There are also scholarships offered to students at Canon Njangali High School for Girls where Shirley is chaplain. Eleven girls are currently sponsored by friends from America and she monitors and coordinates these scholarships.

Naomi's Watch: An outreach to widows of the parish has begun in the parish of Kigaaya. Currently a pilot program which will be parish-based, we seek to fulfill God's command to take care of the widows and orphans among us. If this program works well in Kigaaya (and it looks like it is doing exceptionally well) then Shirley will move on to another parish and begin it there until she has covered all main parishes in Bunyoro Kitara Diocese.

Call
Shirley Morris says this about her calling, “Who would have believed in 1995, when God impressed upon me to assist (now retired) Bishop Turumanya in his diocese, that I would be called as a full-time missionary to Hoima, Uganda, East Africa! I never imagined myself relinquishing everything to spend the rest of my days in Africa. Yet, through profound life- changing spiritual experiences, Jesus Christ has asked me to serve the women of Uganda.” Click for Larger Image!

Prayer Challenges
Shirley wants to be more effective in sharing her faith in Jesus Christ with her Ugandan friends. She wants to be able to encourage them to be the women God made them to be. She will continue to train them, teach them and try to live out an example of God's love. Knowing these women and knowing God, she can see them going out to their families, friends and villages to share what God has done for them. She also prays for the resources to allow her to continue to offer the scholarships quarterly.
