Ministry
After three years in Bolivia, the Waddells have returned to the U.S. in Flintstone, GA.
Tom and Linda feel their call is to work with the entire Anglican Communion, utilizing principles of Christian Microenterprise Development/Microfinance (CMED/MF) while seeking to achieve the vision and goals of SAMS and Five Talents International. Five Talents is the micro-credit initiative commended by the bishops at Lambeth in 1998. Their ministry involves teaching, networking, evangelism, mentoring, leading Bible studies, promoting the concepts of CMED/MF, and establishing small loan programs to promote or expand small-scale enterprises. Important in this ministry will be teaching a Biblical worldview. Tom serves as Latin American Coordinator for CMED/MF for SAMS and Five Talents.
Call
Tom and Linda attended a Crossroads Conference in May 2001 and say they "were much impressed with the vision and staff of SAMS." They also attended a SAMS retreat in Costa Rica, developing relationships with many SAMS missionaries, and "were moved by their passion for Christ and his church and love for the people of Latin America." The partnership between SAMS and Five Talents helps fulfill the call that Tom has sensed from the Lord to pursue a Biblical approach to development that is rooted in a theology faithful to Scripture.
Prayer Challenge
Tom and Linda face the challenge of teaching Christian business principles to young people from very impoverished backgrounds. They are excited that there is much enthusiasm for learning about savings programs and small business plans.
